Harissa BBQ baked tofu

Why am I making BBQ tofu? Simply because I don’t have any tofu recipes on my blog and VegHotPot mentioned BBQ recipes on Facebook, oh and also its tasty! This has literally been made up by stuff in my fridge and cupboards, maybe someday you will get a better BBQ tofu recipe from me, maybe not, who knows?

BBQ tofu 1

1x 396g block of extra firm tofu, drained and pressed

Sauce ingredients:
1/3 cup tomato ketchup
2 tbsp molasses
2 tbsp hot water
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
2 tbsp harissa 
1 tbsp tamari
2 chopped shallots
1 minced clove garlic
1 tbsp smoked paprika

Pretty darn simple. Slice the tofu into 8 slices and set aside. Whisk the sauce ingredients together in a bowl, pour half of it into a shallow dish,lay in the tofu, pour over the remaining sauce and cover with cling film, pop in the fridge for about an hour or so, maybe relax a lil, preheat the oven to 200c/400f and line a baking sheet with grease proof, then spray with cooking spray (or brush with a lil’ oil) pop the marinated tofu slices on the baking sheet and spoon a little of the leftover sauce from the dish on top, bake for 15mins, flip and spoon on any more sauce you have left, bake for another 15 minutes. Done! Serve in sammiches or however you want. nice one!

  1. I made this tonight but I did make some substitutions because I didn’t have tamari (so I used soy sauce) or harissa (so I just chucked in a bit of minced chilli) but it was all good and turned out yummy!!
